This past year has been a troublesome time for our world. While the nightly news continues to report on ever-increasing man-made and natural disasters, the headlines that dominate are of a global economy that is struggling like never before in our lifetime. Many have lost jobs – while others wonder how long they will remain employed. Disasters come in many different forms…and this particular financial disaster has affected all of us.
A quote from Oswald Chambers’ My Utmost for His Highest recently had a great impact on us: “Faith must be tested, because it can be turned into a personal (intimate) possession only through conflict.” In these economic times, we are all being stretched and challenged to trust in His goodness and care for us. The best way to thrive -- instead of strive-- is to keep the main thing the main thing. How do we do this? Keeping our eyes on Jesus, walking in faith instead of fear... and reaching out beyond our own needs to help those who cannot help themselves….
As Christ followers, we celebrate Christmas with a reminder of how blessed we truly are. The gift of Jesus is vast in its scope… and yet so very intimate and personal. We stand in awe of His care and concern for the things that matter to us. He continues to provide our daily bread -- and by the standard of most of the world, we are lavishly provided for.
We want to take this opportunity to thank you for your support. As a direct result of your generosity this past year, lives have been touched in very tangible ways by the love of God. Together, we have reached out to the poorest of America’s poor in Appalachia…Hurricane Katrina survivors have realized their dream of living in their own home once again…and compassionate action has been demonstrated to flood, fire and tornado survivors. The heart of Jesus has been conveyed through His people and together, we look forward to this wonderful privilege in the coming new year!
With joyful celebration,
Jack and Cherie Minton
