August 8, 2010: The excitement captured the attention of each staff member as the news went through our office: the long-awaited shipment of disaster relief tents was on its way from the customs house to a storage unit at our field partner’s facility. Very soon, 120 families will have stable, dry conditions in which to house their children and relatives. We are thankful to the Lord for watching over the customs clearance process, which can be notoriously lengthy, and allowing these vital gifts to finally arrive to benefit the people of Haiti. Our Haiti Shelter Project is finally reaching its most important stage.
 

The January 13 earthquake left 90% of the buildings in ruins around the Leogane region. We have felt that this is to be our target area for our outreach as a mission. A Hope Force team will leave on Sunday destined for Port-au-Prince to establish a base of operation, supporting initiatives in this region. We are thankful for our collaborating organizations in Haiti who have supported this project and will continue to work with us in the weeks ahead:

We will have daily updates on the website to keep you informed on the progress of this mission (link to updates from the field url) In the midst of the chaos that is still prevalent after this disaster, we are reminded of the scripture in Psalms 46: “Be still and know that I am God.” This is our prayer as we prepare for this mission of mercy.
