![]() Hope Force Reservists are responding today to the devastating floods in our city – Nashville, Tennessee. At Hope Force, we are called to focus on the needs of the world – now those same needs are literally being brought to our doorstep. We have volunteers already in contact with the Salvation Army to man feeding stations. We are mobilizing to begin tarping roofs affected by the storm and preparing to undertake efforts to “muck out” homes once the flood waters recede. Our Reservists in the region can contact us by email or watch the website for the latest updates. If you are not a Reservist yet, you can join us on a pathway of service by attending one of our upcoming Hope Force Training Intensive seminars. We are close to reaching our initial goal of 1,000 trained Reservists! Our objective of mobilizing the body of Christ to be the hearts and hands of the Church during times of crisis and natural disaster is rapidly advancing. Hope Force Reservist training focuses on preparing an individual for the demanding role of a disaster responder. An individual who desires to become an HFI Reservist must be personally prepared at every level. The signature Hope Force Training Intensive seminar is coming to Fort Worth, Texas May 20 – 22. Beginning Thursday evening and running through Saturday afternoon, participants will be challenged by live speakers, video messages, group discussion and a study of the scriptures to help answer the question – “How would Christ have us respond to those who suffer?”
Jessica and Davey Anderson attended the recent HFI Reservist training in Nashville: "We are very impressed by the quality and depth of the Hope Force training. At first we expected to learn how to set up tents or work in food lines or rescue people from rubble… as Jack and Cherie like to call it, “Chainsaw 101”. But we were very impressed that the three days of training centered on our spiritual well-being and our relationship and identity in Christ. We were so challenged and encouraged by each of the speakers as well as inspired by their stories.” Click here to read other Reservists’ comments on the training. The cost for the Fort Worth event is only $155. Upon successful completion of the training, graduates will be certified as Hope Force Reservists, eligible for rapid deployment in the aftermath of natural disasters. The next available Reservist training will be held in Fullerton, California June 24-26. Whether you come to the Fort Worth event in May or the Fullerton training in June, it is sure to be a life-changing experience. Our assessment trips to Haiti have enabled us to identify a group of 2,100 people in the village of Sous Savanne, in the region closest to the epicenter of January’s earthquake. On our last trip there, we found that the village had received no outside assistance whatsoever. More than 90% of the buildings were destroyed, relegating the inhabitants to existing in an open field with minimal means of shelter – many slept under meager blankets or bed sheets held up with sticks.
We have set a goal of procuring, shipping and distributing 300 high-quality tents for the people of Sous Savanne. The tents are designed for post-disaster situations and capable of lasting two years. Our Emergency Disaster Relief Tents are made of a strong, tear-resistant fabric and are manufactured exclusively for relief agencies. They have excellent qualities to provide shelter in post-disaster situations. We believe this project will provide a viable means for the families of Sous Savanne to begin reconstructing their lives and look forward to a better future.
