Outreach Teams

Outreach teams to Haiti have been a significant part of Hope Force International, with several short-term trips planned each year. All teams joining a Hope Force International outreach team in Haiti are required to process their registration through the HFI home office for approval. Upon receiving an official approval from HFI staff it is important for teams to register right away. This will allow adequate time to finish processing all necessary paperwork before the official deadline, which is six weeks prior to your departure date.

Because of the current situation of political unrest, instability and general insecurity in Haiti, outreach teams are not possible at the present time. Although we feel safe in our region of Sous Savanne, parts of the road from the airport to the Gressier/Leogane area are dangerous, mostly because of gang related violence. If and when the security conditions improve, we will carefully assess the possibilities to receive volunteers.

In the meantime, while it’s not possible to come in person, please consider sponsoring one of our ongoing projects, such as the Child Sponsorship Program or the Houses of Hope/Latrines 4 Health projects. You can still be engaged…

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Haiti Outreach Teams consist of five to 16 people. As this is not an immediate post-disaster response, the opportunity is open to individuals who have not participated in the HFI Reservist Training.

Cost: Participants are responsible for their own travel expenses to and from Haiti and will need to secure travel /medical evacuation insurance. The ground fees of $100 per night covers housing, food, translators, in-country transportation, and outreach facilitation:

Dormitory style accommodations house approx. 2-4 people to a room with each room having it’s own bathroom.

Teams may want to raise extra funding for specific projects.
