Visiting Teams

May 15, 2013

Hope Force International Haiti Field Team Members Rene and Marianne Lako share about the visits from the team from Candada and New Hampshire.VT5

We've had the privilege of hosting teams recently from Calgary, Canada and New Hampshire and visited all four building sites in Babay and Sous Savanne. It seemed just like yesterday that we received our bags of cement from each participant. Now foundations have been dug, concrete poured and block walls with strong rebar are going up.

The team had a very enjoyable time at Islande's site, as she cooked rice and beans right in front of the tent she still sleeps in. A Haitian kitchen can be as simple as three rocks, a pot and a wood fire. When the food was ready, Islande presented us with a huge plate each. It was delicious and all the workers and Islande's family enjoyed a wonderful meal, great conversation, good discussion and joyous laughter.

Before the team's departure we went back to visit the families and took a team picture in front of one of the homes. We are amazed at God's faithfulness as he allows us to show people like Islande, Virgina and the surrounding community God's love in a practical, yet deeply spiritual, way.

The roofing materials have been acquired and will soon be placed on the block walls. The task of working together with local laborers to install the roofs is a memorable highlight for our visiting teams. A day does not go by where we are not sought out by desperately needy people presenting their case for consideration of the next House of Hope for help.
